Hsin-Ju Chiu (aka Raw)
Hsin-Ju is a QUT graduated independent artist. In 2005, she performed in Malaysian Dance Festival in Kuala Lumpur and also participated in a collaborative exchange project between QUT and the Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA). In 2007, Hsin-Ju completed her Masters in Fine Arts and has appeared as a guest artist in most Dance North’s productions such as Gravity Feed, The Sleeping End (choreographed by Antony Hamilton), NightCafe 06, and Underground as part of her masters project.
After graduation, Hsin-Ju joined Dance North working with Gavin Webber and has since performed in Underground, Nightcafe 07, Remember Me and Nowhere Fast (choreographed by Ross McCormack). In 2008, she was invited to Vienna with Dance North for two weeks residency at ImPulsTanz Dance Festival.
Hsin-Ju is currently working as a freelance artist and has been involved in Gavin Webber’s Rock Show, in collaboration with Australian rock band Regurgitator as part of Q150 and Stalker Theatre Company’s large scale work Shanghai Lady Killer. In early 2010, Hsin-Ju was invited to Austria to join Splintergroup for Festspielhaus St.Polten’s Australia in Residence program and performed Remember Me and Legless.
